JOSH OF THE WEEEEEK!!!

Okay... This weeks Josh of the week is a double header. I have no idea how to word this properly, so I'll just say the first Josh of the week which I was informed of earlier this week.

Josh of the week: Be alert! We need more lerts. (That was so hillarious!)

And...
The second Josh of the week is the whole reason I am posting this. I tried to control myself from posting this week of my wedding. But this is just too exciting to hold in, so I'm going to be Nichshol just this once.
The Josh of the week: JOSH IS FREEKING ENGAGED TO MY SISTER!!!!!

I can't believe this actually materialized. It was a couple of months ago, when the thought came into my head, that there's this dude who I'm acquainted with who would go perfect with my Shvester.
Lo-and-behold, several months later, they walked out of the Ohel together ready to get married and build a life together.
And so, Josh, or better known as Shua Naparstek is engaged to Bashie Hershcovich. Mazal Tov.

At my Ofruff yesterday, I heard the greatest line. A friend of mine was saying L'chaim to me. So he tells me that he's so excited for me, that he has absolutely no words to describe his excitement.
Says he "I don't have any words for you B**ny, so.... AAAAhhhhhhh!!"

That was so beautiful to me. It was the most beautiful wedding wish I was able to be given. Words are Tzimtzum. They limit what's going on inside our brains and make those thoughts properly understood by another person. Words are the funnel of our minds. The wish that my friend gave me yesterday was pure. It was without any boundaries. A simple long, loud sigh, trying to express the intense love that one has going on inside. No words can properly describe such feelings.

Just to note. That is essentially what CHHHHH means... But that's a whole different story.
I'm off to my last Chosson class. The most intense one.
I'm not even nervous about it.

Okay. No more posts until I'm happily married in four more days... Oy!!

This last week is so hard. In so many ways!!

oy! Hashem sometimes gives the blessing of the most amazing photos from total amateur photographers... It's what Hasseedoot likes to call Hashgocho Protis.
This is one such beauty of my neice and nephew.

In case you didn't believe me, I decided to prove it with this 'real' picture (as opposed to a fake, photoshopped one!).
Behold the Chosson Shua Naparstek and the Kalla Bashie Hershcovich! May they build a happy home together, appreciating each other. May they grow together in happiness, bringing the message and warmth of the Rebbe to the billions of people roaming this potential home for Hashem which we call earth.
Mazal Tov again.

Today's diary...

Saw my niece today. Yummy is soooo yummy.

The mountain of Montreal. My city is named after this. I passed this while shopping.

This is how I see my city. A look through my spectacles.

I stopped off at Schreder's, but couldn't find a raincoat there either.

I'm starting a new life soon. Eventually, the city I grew up in, the place where I developed all my childhood memories is going to be just a passing road in the rearview mirror of life. The message though is quite clear and expressed: "Objects in mirror are CLOSER than they appear!"
I'll try not to allow those past memories to fade away into the distance.

Here is a very Non-Chassidic neighbor of mine. I'm just saying that out of jealousy. Why couldn't I have such a thing hanging off of my porch??!! (naaa, not exactly.)
A week and a day left! Anyone want to be my Shomer? I think I can get a Shomer online... I dunno'.
I'm off to New York now, with some cool surprises... But I cannot divulge the nature of my exciting excursion ahead!
Oh... And this week's Josh of the week: Mother-in-laws must've made up the rules and regulations for battle. That's why they called them 'rules of engagement'! Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense.
(Okay, that didn't neccessarily make sense, but that's still all I came up with.)
Good evening hearty blog! I'm going to go and find Fishel now. I really lost him!

Taking a honeymoon.

Okay, this is going to be from among the last posts that I'm going to put up on the blog for the next week or more... Until after I'm happily married IY"H.
In another day, I will be entering into the unknown. It's going to be a week before the wedding. Lots of restricitions are going to be thrown onto my weary and grumpy shoulders. Things that on the surface, will seem to weigh me down and not allow me to enjoy the life I've grown accustomed to lately.
I've thought about it and realized how this is the best thing that can possibly happen. It's the week of separation before the greatest change of my life takes effect. It's what's going to separate what I was up until now with what I am Kaviyochoil morphing into.
From the moment I was born until tomorrow will have been one chapter of my life.
The week ahead is going to be the culmination of that past. It will also be there to mentally, emotionally and spiritually charge me with the energy and enthusiasm that I'm going to need for the rest of my "new life".
It will be hard. Endings aren't easy and beginning are also extremely tough. I'm looing forward to it though.

I will probably post something closer to Yomtov... But this is just my shout out to what's coming.

I'm in love!

2 more things...

Firstly, I realized how this blog is almost turning 2 years old. It's still very young and fresh, but it's been through alot... Hong Kong, California, Yekatrinoslav, Hong Kong, Ottawa, Hong Kong, Yekatrinoslav, Hong Kong, Dayton Ohio and finally New York... Lots of happiness, sadness, nervousness, depression has come through all this over the two years.
In the year to come, I see tons and tons of happiness. I see Italy, I see Israel, I see New York, I see Mexico?? I see fun and laughter and tons of other blessings from Hashem coming my way. Get ready hearty blog for so much.
But the coolest part about it is, check out when I posted my first post ever on the blog. Yes! May 29th 2005.
I'm getting married May 30th 2007. The beginning of a new life in so many ways. I can't wait.

So happy upcoming birthday dear bloggy. I love you. You have been such a comfort to me for so long and now I will give you a birthday present and allow you to accompany me into my new life together.
Uhhh afroson... Can my blog come too? It's his birthday.

And a last thought: Can everyone please make a petition to my Kalla to please post a picture of Steve in Italy?! Steve was cranky and complainy lately. Apparently he likes my Kalla more than me (Hey... just like me) and he insisted on being sent back to Italy with her. I caved into the pressures. Listen, Steve is a lion at the end of the day and at one point he even threatened to call his fierce uncle Irv from Central Congo. Word has it, that Irv is one thing you don't want to mess with... So I gave in.
So now Steve is in Italy helping prepare for the wedding of a lifetime. I miss him and would like to see pictures of him enjoying the historical city of Milan.
Can everyone help demand of Afroson to post some pictures!!

STEVEN!! STEVEN!! STEVEN!!

Okay, enough now. Good Shabbos for real.

A New neice.

Mazal Tov Devora Leah Myhill. You look exactly like every single other newborn baby girl (and boy)... Well except for those that come from Asians, African American's, Mexicans and Tzfati, bagel shop guru's.
But I bless you that you should grow up and be cuter than all the other competition that's out there against you till now.
May you be a true Chassid(ah?) of the Rebbe and grow up to make your parents, your Feteh Feter, your grandparents, The Rebbe and your Heiligeh Ayin L'Yesh creator proud of you.

Chosson classes #3

Well, I'm back home now to take a slight break from all the stresses that pile up before the big day. I'm thinking... A week before a baby is born, does he also take a slight break from the womb. You know, he's kinda' been chilling out there for the last nine months or so. He's about to pop into a bigger reality. Let him take a little walk around... A couple of days away from the hype. Sort of what I'm doing now... Except no!
Chosson classes are just about over. We are left with the final "one-on-one" session wit the "rav" before we get married. The how to's, the when to's, the "what-the-h**l-is-going-on-here"'s that we all deal with while we are rookie soul mates... I'm kinda' looking forward to it.
But on a very mature and serious note, Chosson classes were truly amazing. I enjoyed every moment of it. It was interesting, relevant and intense. I think that Rabbi Pesach Shmerling is a phenomenal person to teach these laws. I really recommend him for all future Chassanim to be (uhum Brucy, Wires, Shmit and "you-know-who").
And now on a totally kiddy, immature, giggly note, YEAH!!!!! Chosson classes rocked freeking casa! It's so much fun challenging a respected Rabbi's nerves with all sorts of questions. Listening to various prohibited, booboo words coming out of some man with a long white beard who speaks only Yiddish with his wife and kids.
As mentioned in an earlier post. I badly bruised my finger. It's all blown up and purple. So I was thinking. When I was a kid and I would hurt myself, I was always subdued and comforted with the promise that by my wedding, I would feel much better and the booboo would go away. But this finger thing worries me. I don't know if I'll really be okay by my wedding. Can someone take the responsibility on their shoulders to guarantee me a complete recovery before my wedding? That's a toughy!
On another note, I'm going to post a final thought that may be deemed inappropriate or not, depending on what was consumed by you, dear blog reader for breakfast (My suggestion is guacamole on a toasted rice cake): I'm madly in love!
Good Shabbos!

Checking in...

Checking in checking in, huh let me begin
Of the song checking out it's a continuation.

... I think I may have broken my finger the other day playing hockey. I was going to make a mental note, that I shouldn;t ever again play hockey with two weeks left to my wedding. But then I figured that that would be totally unneccessary. Maybe two weeks before I marry off my kids might help. So there's my mental note.
So I ponder... Should I sign off and go to my last Chosson class which starts in ten minutes, or should I continue blogging now... hmmm

Chosson Classes #1

So... My day is done. I was exposed to new and unchartered ideas and laws which were so foreign to me up until this time of my life.

I went into Kehos today and picked out the book I was going to be learning from. A Kitzur Dinei TaHara.

Carefully and innocently I placed it onto the counter where I was going to purchase it. There was this uncomfortable feeling inside me. An awkwardness that I was doing something wrong. I felt like a 10 year old kid trying to buy cigarettes or other Devorim Asurim CH'V in a wayside gas station/convenience store...

The guy selling me the book would look down at me with a menacing glare and say "Sir, we're going to need to I.D. you for this book. Just to make sure that you're really a Chosson and are legally able to learn this stuff. Otherwise, I'm sorry. I won't be able to sell this to you!"

...

He didn't even blink twice when he sold it to me. I had passed that without even needing to show him my invitation. Great job Benny.

Classes were interesting, to say the least.

Very interesting! (I'm not going to elaborate.)

Lastly, I was thinking over Shabbos about the concept of flowers. Can someone explain to me what is so beautiful about flowers? Besides for their nice look (perhaps).

I mean, they die after two days!! Who wants something that will have to be thrown out after a day.

Wouldn't it be more meaningful to get someone something that can last and they can really appreciate? Parrots are just as beautiful and just as colorful as flowers. And they also last longer... I don't know.

I decided that people who get flowers and give it to their loved ones are not telling their loved ones how much they love them with the flowers.

The flowers aren't saying "I love you sweety. These flowers are for you to prove my love."

The flowers are saying "Sorry sweety for buying these cheesy flowers. I couldn't think of anything more original and lasting than these."

Flowers are 'sorry' gifts. Not 'love' gifts as everyone thought it was until now.

Lag Bommer!

I'm in a Chabad house in Queens now... (nuff said)

... Updating some more kak quickly!

1) I have a thought to post about flowers. This is just my reminder, so that I won't forget it.
2) Engaged life is so cool... But very tough at the same time. I can't really think of an analogy to the feeling of engaged life now. I'm too pressured to make this post quick, so that I can leave in a couple of minutes... But... I will think of something.
3) I'm starting Chossin classes tommorrow... Let the nightmares begin!!

STEVEN!!!!

Someone sent me this picture in an email. He tried cracking a joke and telling me that these were dandy lions (get it?)
But I looked beyond the photo!
This is an old family portrait of Steve's Zeidy Gedalia (from the mom's side. Not Zeidy Earl) and his little siblings. We're still trying to work out when and where exactly this photo was taken. It must've been artificially colored, because Steve's Zeidy is very very old.
But we find new things every day. What would we do without the internet?

Another spam from a friend.

In request of remaining anonymous, I will just paste the email 'friend' spam that I received tonight. It was mucho funny.
But it's such a shame that I can't say who sent it to me... I'll give the viewers three guesses (hehe)

"This is National Mental Health Care week. You can do your part by remembering to contact at least one unstable person to show you care. My part is done!"

Ripped off of yekaland.com

Great job Akiva!

Chasing my tail!

2 more days!
2 more days!

So here are just a few things I'm throwing onto the screen, so that I may reminisce about them forever.

1) The Sun stays awake the entire day, while the moon stays awake the entire night. Which one is the bigger Chiddush?
For the sun to be able to stay awake the entire day (and it's always day wherever the sun is), is nothing to cool. I, after all also stay awake an entire day. But for the moon to be able to stay awake an entire night (and it's always night wherever the moon is) is a huge Chiddush. Not many people can do that.
2) A dog chasing his own tail. He runs around and around. If after awhile he finally grabs hold of the tail. He stops running, his tail hurts, but he's happy!
Sometimes we run around and around in circles doing nothing worthwhile. But if we would actually be able to bite down on the tail, we would be happy. So what's wrong with running around in circles? (I thought our convo last night about that concept was hilarious... Oh, rest of the readers, don't you just hate inside jokes?)

Isn't it weird, when you say these slang lines that Shvartzeh's say between each other. But you say it in a sophisticated way, so it comes out sounding totally stupid?

On that note: I will catch all of you homey's later on dood!

Hora'ah of the week!

The Hora'ah taken from this is... Drink milk. It's healthy.
