Nothing much to update on.
I will blabber. Because that's Poshut all I'm good at doing.
My brother Zvi and his wife Chayale, who are now on Shlichus of the Rebbe in Stavropol Russia have already opened their awesome blog with updates of 'real' intense Shlichus life over there. www.jewishstavropol.blogspot.com.
It's really cool. Check it out. I'm just expressing my immense pride with my brother being on Shlichus so far away and doing so awesome!
Anyways, I'm waiting for the laundry to finish drying at the laundromat. I put them in about forty minutes ago and set the timer for an hour and twenty minutes. So I have another half hour to wait for the clothing to be ready. I will have to head on down to the 24 hour laundromat that's a half a block away and Shlep all the clothes back home. The worst part of it all is that it's currently 1:10 in the morning.
The other day I was discussing with my Chavrussah how interesting it is; Judaism and LiHavdil Elef Alfei Havdolos X-ianity have similar concepts which are taught, but with such different essential basis and outlooks. Here... Check this out:
Judaism: Gives two similar ideas to children while growing up.
1) Eliyahu hanavi comes and visits every single Jewish home by the Pesach Seder. He drinks from the wine we prepare for him at the table. He blesses every home. Children and adults have believed this for thousands of years.
2) When a child turns three years old and has his traditional first haircut - Upshernish -, he is brought to the Rebbe and asked to read some of the Alef Beis covered in honey. He learns a little bit from Sefer Vayikrah in the Torah, while the father drops candies on the boys head. All this to show that Torah is sweet. Now, legend goes that angels are dropping the candies on top of the child's head.
As the Rebbe even elaborates in a Sicha, answering the obvious question - How is it possible that angels are dropping the candies, if we clearly see it falling from the hands of Tatty?? - He explains that nonetheless the idea that angels are being Mashpia Hamshochos in an Oifen of Mesikus is happening while the child learns. That way, there is absolute validity to this theory of candies falling from angels...
As opposed to...
X-ianity: Once a year, some big friendly bearded man, dressed in full royal red attire, goes around the world and puts presents in all the good little children's homes underneath the 'holiday tree'. He comes through the chimney and distributes these little treasures for everyone. He's so wonderful.
Here comes the analysis...
Isn't it amazing how both of these religions have similar ideas which they teach to little children, yet, we can see such amazing different ways of looking and treating the religion? Judaism's theories of angels giving candies and Elijah's visit around the entire world in one night are pretty hard to believe.
Yet Yiddishkeit doesn't take the notion lightly at all. It's a very serious thing for everyone. It's not like these are little bedtime tales we tell the kids, but we know that it's really all a fable for children. It's not like when the kids grow up, they're going to see the truth in it all. That it was all just a fun little story we used to tell them... Sort of like the whole idea of the tooth fairy putting money underneath the pillow (Same idea we're talking about...)
X-ianity however is all about the unseriousness of it all. They have the same idea. But deep inside every X-ian adult's mind, they know how false and fake it all is. It's just a nice fiction to keep the kids happy and involved.
What comes out is that Yiddishkeit is a real, serious religion which doesn't joke around for the kids pleasure. Everything is so real and true.
The other side is not real at all. It's all about just keeping everyone happy and content.
That's all.
Good night. I have to go and get the laundry.
Good Shabbos!

I will greet you in the time-honored words of former President Bill Clinton: Shalom, Chaver.. I, of course, mean them in a more positive way.
Since I don't have many exciting things to say, (no horrible occurences in my life, you see.. the heat is ok and when the septic tank isn't backing up and flooding, life is good).
It's good to see you back in the blogging world, you were AWOL for a while.
What?!?! No tooth ferry?
-Peretz
2 things.
First of all, thank Levi. But what does AWOL mean... Pardon my computer talk ignorance
Second of all, Peretz... You might want to sit down while I break the news to you. The tooth fairy is fake. So is Clifford, Curious George, Santa, Hardy boys, Little red riding hood, Mary Poppins, Superman and batman... We're still looking into Spiderman, but it doesn't look good. So sorry!
