5:08:PM Wednesday, Jul 25, 2007
Chabad of Hong Kong would like you to take a moment to consider a new opportunity for post-seminary Shlichus for two girls.
There is a reason that Hong Kong is called the City of Life. So while we may be geographically distant the action of Hong Kong in general and Chabad in particular can make for an extremely rewarding experience and give you the skills you may need in your own future Shlichus.
Chabad has expanded significantly over the past few years and your talents may be the ones we need to keep it moving ahead.
Are you motivated and responsible? Are you eager to learn and to strive for the best? This may be the Shlichus opportunity for you. Want more information?
Please contact goldie@chabadhk.org for a detailed job description. "

So there it is. Chabad of Hong Kong has finally gotten fed up with Bochurim. Their plan to make a Yeshiva and be able to fundraise more money from people didn't work out.
They wanted Bochurim who are eager to sit and learn as much as they can, who are inspired to do Peulos for the community all the time. Bochurim who are cool and fit in with the community, are self motivated to keep going and going and going. Who are Botul to the head Shliach.
In short, they wanted angels.
Our year was the first 'Yeshiva' year in Hong Kong. It was cool. I had a blast. We did Peulos, we were motivated. But the learning didn't really happen too much. We didn't have any sort of Hanholo whatsoever. Nobody to inspire us to learn, nobody to give us answers, nobody to Farbreng with us.
The Shluchim in Hong Kong vowed to change that all by the time the second year of Bochurim came into town. They didn't get a Hanholo for the Bochurim. Instead, they put more restrictions on the Bochurim.
They put their foot down on alot of things that they were lenient with us. It just ticked off the Bochurim more.
Eventually, five out of six Bochurim got fed up and left, leaving them no choice but to bring Yisrolik and I back for the last few months.
This past year was better, but very hectic. Learning was a joke. It didn't happen. three of six Bochurim left in middle and throughout the year, Bochurim were coming in and out of there like a bagel shop.
That leaves them no choice but to go back to bringing girls down there for the year.
The Yeshiva idea is over. Bochurim don't work. We don't get the job done.
